Woo Hoo, folks! Election time is coming quicker than a rabbit being chased by a fox. And there’s nothing this fox likes better than writing about politics.
There are soooo many candidates running for Statewide office that I’m not even going to try and be wordy about this. When I read the snail mail version of the official voter guide, my eyes glazed over, so I’m certainly not going to make you suffer. I’m keeping it short and sweet. And sassy.

No, it’s not voter fraud. Even Republicans have the opportunity to vote twice to select our United State Senator. Both elections are on the same ballot. Each election has a its own set of candidates.
Why? Back in 2020 Presidential candidate Joe Biden picked then US Senator from California Kamala Harris to be his Vice President. Despite the fact that about a quarter of the country does not believe it to be true, the Biden-Harris ticket won the November 2020 General Election.
There was that attempt at insurrection on January 6, 2021, but the assembled patriots who were supposed to be battling Antifa so martial law could be declared had a problem: Antifa didn’t show up.
Plans B & C to prevent Biden-Harris from assuming their offices also failed. State legislatures weren’t eager to authorize a set of shadow electors for the Electoral College, and Vice President Mike Pence refused to delay the announcement of the vote because he didn't think it was legal.
So Kamala Harris stepped down from the Senate and Alex Padilla was appointed by Gov. Newsom to serve until the next statewide election. If he wins the first election, Padilla can serve until January 2023. If he loses the second election somebody else will be our U.S. Senator.
Unfortunately Dianne Feinstein won’t be on the ballot this year. You’ll have to wait until 2024 to make that choice.
