It’s been a bad 10 days for the Trump/Vance campaign. Democrat Kamala Harris is getting media coverage because she’s the shiny new thing on stage. Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance is doubling down on his misogynistic nonsense. Trump seems to think telling people they won’t have to vote after his election is a good thing.
After years of calling people insulting names, Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz found an all-purpose zinger for Trump and his entourage, namely “weird.” And boy, are they pissed. So pissed in fact that they've been going on TV/YouTube and doing weird things just to prove they’re not weird.
Xitter overlord Elon Musk has declared that calling Trump’s Klan weird will get users banned from the platform. They’ve been warned, but none-the-less they are persisting, as new memes appear every few seconds.
And then there’s Project 2025.
Losing the dominant position in the game of framing the election (when Biden bailed) has meant that all kinds of things previously overlooked are getting attention. The Heritage Foundation’s manual for destroying democracy, written mostly by Trump associates, is getting the attention it deserves.
For once, Teflon Don isn’t on the center stage. And the MAGA world is pissed. Trump berated Fox news for showing a packed Kamala Harris rally.
Fox News Jesse Watters actually said, referring to support from white dudes, “When a man votes for a woman, he actually transitions into a woman."
Today, the leader of Project 2025 stepped down. Word is that Trump campaign bosses insisted on it. Some people say it’s reflective of a longer term rift.
And the Heritage Foundation announced it had finished the policy portion of their work, an oxymoron because, yes, they’ve published their research. Project 2025 architect Russell Vought served as policy director of the RNC’s platform writing committee. So, yes, their work is done.
Now that people are learning about the policies built into Project 2025, they’re not liking what they’re seeing. Over nine hundred pages of deal-breakers like ending Head Start.
Trump’s agenda ( Agenda 47) already aligns with Project 2025, and Heritage folks are still building its personnel database for a second Trump term. And the Oversight Project has gathered all the pieces needed to challenge any outcome Dear Leader doesn’t like.
Via Raw Story:
Rolling Stone and American Doom identified at least 70 individuals working as county election officials in swings states like Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania who questioned the validity of Donald Trump's 2020 election loss or refused to certify results, including at least 22 who refused or delayed the certification of election results in recent years.
“I think we are going to see mass refusals to certify the election,” said Democratic election lawyer Marc Elias. “Everything we are seeing about this election is that the other side is more organized, more ruthless, and more prepared.”
The Trump campaign issued a press release celebrating the “demise” of Project 2025, and threatening anyone who continues to associate it with their candidate.
Heritage has distributed talking points encouraging participants to emphasize that the project does not speak for Trump. Project 2025 is keeping The Playbook under wraps. This is a document covering the first 180 days of a new Trump administration detailing specific actions that need to be taken to implement P25's policy. (It’s a “secret.”)
As Lincoln Project founder Rick Wilson noted today:
Donald Trump’s team has been playing defense now since the moment Joe Biden stepped away. Today’s screw up was Streisand-effecting project 2025
By announcing the program’s “demise,” Trump has called more attention to it. And I think people are getting on to the idea that the man lies all the time.
