Every Protest Matters in 2026
San Diego's Resistance Calendar Continues to Expand

The White House is on the defensive this week, as the public isn’t buying into the President’s “feeling” like it was time to attack Iran. One might feel like having fries with that burger, but spending as much as a billion dollars a day on what amounts to war porn doesn’t qualify.
Congress has been cajoled into not challenging the Trump administration’s latest foreign policy folly. The Ukrainians have shamed the US by revealing that they’d been asked to provide assistance to the Department of War! with strategies for combatting drones. Northern European nations have agreed on evacuation preparations in the event of a massive invasion (which wouldn’t be coming from Mongolia). When the administration waved its war rattle at Spain, the rest of Europe let the US know there would be serious economic consequences.
The bad news this week is that: The Trump administration’s lack of a post-war vision for the Middle East is making a what’s probably a forever war in Iraq, US intervention in Ecuador’s drug enforcement, more lawlessness by immigration authorities, relaxing the rules for no-knock searches by the Justice Department and a dazzling display of arrogance by government officials appearing before congressional facilities.
The good news is that opposition to the regime continues to grow. On Thursdays, I focus on local protests and community building events in this newsletter. The number of #NoKings locations in San Diego grew last week, as did the weekly sign waving events at locations throughout the county.
There’s also good news coming out of the first round of primary elections in Texas, Arkansas, and North Carolina. Democratic voters showed up in numbers that broke pre-election models. Unaffiliated and swing voters gravitated toward Democrats at rates that are consistent across states and race types.
Locally, Democrats’ canvas operations are happening, especially in the 48th Congressional District, soon to be vacated by Darrell Issa.
A San Diego Resistance Calendar. Every Protest Counts.
Every week I check links & event calendars for announced actions and events, along with surfing the pages of progressive groups and allies. This is a comprehensive list of what’s available to San Diegans who want to be involved. (If I missed an event, reach out to me and I’ll remedy that problem.)
