Hey Guys, Knock it Off!

The American double standard Harris is fighting against.

There is a bizarre spectacle at the core of this year’s presidential election that has me gobsmacked. That spectacle is the glaring difference in how we judge men versus women. And it’s so blindingly on display right now:

“She needs to provide more detail.” Meanwhile Trump has had nine years to come up with an alternative to Obamacare. He has “principles” of a plan . . Imagine how that would have played in the media had Harris said that. Trump’s “plan” for most of the rest of government is to essentially blow it up. He’s an arsonist. His only plan is to find a pack of matches and lighter fluid.

“Why hasn’t she solved these problems while she was in office?” Name one thing Mike Pence solved while he was in office. He barely managed to stay alive after Trump goaded a mob that wanted to hang him. He had to literally “phone a friend” to make sure he couldn’t violate the Constitution and subvert the results of a legitimate election.

“She’s just not assertive enough.” Seriously?!?! She wiped the floor with him at the debate. She’s a former prosecutor and Attorney General. She’s definitely not a shrinking violet. Meanwhile Trump continues rereading his love letter from Kim Jong Un. WTF

“She’s not intelligent. She slept her way to the top.” (I actually heard this flop out of the mouth of idiots in our TV lounge.) She did her undergrad at Howard University, has a Juris Doctorate from Hastings (law degree as most of us know it by), DA for San Francisco (you can’t sleep your way to that), Attorney General for California (you can’t sleep your way to that), Senator from California (you can’t sleep your way to that), and Vice President of the United States (you can’t sleep your way to that). Mind you, this was said in the presence of the dude’s wife who quietly sat watching the TV like a Stepford Wife. Meanwhile, Trump has molested his way through life as a bonafide sexual predator. He’s propped his image up with a series of trophy wives, all of whom have more business sense than he does. Four BK’s and bailouts from daddy certainly doesn’t qualify as sleeping your way to the top, but only Fred Trump really knows.

What I’m left with are excuses that are nothing but a veneer for regressive attitudes towards women. Particularly women who are achieving results far better than many men out there. And some men seem a bit threatened by that.

So, to those men, I say, “Hey guys, knock it off!”

Dudes! Dispense with your insecurities and man up. In no world is Trump even remotely as qualified to be president as Harris is. Except in some devolving totalitarian one.

Real men don’t need to vote for a man to feel secure. Think with your head and not your armpits.
