Impeachment Today: Eight More Witnesses Set To Testify This Week
UPDATE: David Holmes, the embassy official who overheard Ambassador Sondland’s call with President Trump, will testify publicly on Thursday alongside Fiona Hill.
Having run out of insults, distortions, and threats Republicans are switching over to “the nothing to see here” defense. In other words, what Trump did is no big deal, and certainly not the basis for an impeachment trial.
If you're not caught up on what happened during Week One of public testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, let me summarize...
- Of those who were willing to testify under oath, ALL offered evidence that Trump committed an impeachable offense.
- Of those who say Trump did NOT commit an impeachable offense, none were willing to testify under oath.
...That’s it.
The President responded to an invitation to testify from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, by saying he’d strongly consider written testimony.
Of course, he couldn’t say such a thing without tossing in a few insults:
The odds of the President testifying are only slightly lower than the chance he’ll release his tax returns this week.
CNN reports this morning that a lawyer for the House of Representatives told a federal judge about an ongoing investigation on whether President Donald Trump lied to special counsel Robert Mueller in written answers he provided in the Russia investigation.
