My Pillow Guy’s Election Miracle Won’t Happen (Again)
Of all the nutcases surrounding our Former Fearless Leader, Mike Lindell stands out as the one most willing to be not embarrassed by his antics.
After months of yammering about his growing collection of proof that the 2020 election was stolen, Lindell promised to reveal all in August at a three-day “cyber forensic symposium” in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
It was going to be Yuge, with secretaries of state, attorneys general, governors, cybersecurity experts, and media from across the political spectrum packed into a stadium as his truth was revealed.
At long last his new evidence would prove Donald Trump had won the election and that as soon as the morning of August 13, the result would be overturned and Trump reinstated.
The stadium turned out to be a 200 seat banquet hall, located between a gun range and a small combined lounge and bar called “Club Lobo.” The seats were plastic. Each day’s big reveal was a bust, either because of spotty internet or the unwillness of guests to just make stuff up.
Needless to say, Trump didn’t become president, and the handful of people coming into the event with any credibility left as fast as they could.
The debacle didn’t faze the My Pillow Guy. He continued to be invited as a guest speaker at wannabe Trumper rallies nationwide. That’s the thing about rightie cheerleaders; the more nefarious they are, the more credibility they have with the hard core faithful.
Lindell’s next big thing was supposed to happen Thanksgiving Week. He had long promised an election-fraud complaint filed with the Supreme Court on Tuesday morning. His bombshell would result in an immediate 9-0 decision vacating the 2020 election.
On Monday, it was learned that Mr Pillow had failed to find the one state’s attorney general he needed to sign the complaint.
He blamed this lack of interest on a conspiracy led by Republican National Committee Chair Ronna Romney McDaniels.
“How dare the RNC try and stop this case from getting to the Supreme Court. Shame on you, RNC! You are worse than Fox [News] now! You can’t tell me why Ronna McDaniel, the head of the RNC, made a statement saying Biden won three days before this Supreme Court complaint was supposed to go to the Supreme Court.”
Lindell says he’ll simply release the document to the public on Thanksgiving Day…. which could lead to some mighty interesting conversations around family gatherings.
UPDATE: Lindell released his document. The reviews weren't kind:
Zachary Petrizzo at the Daily Beast was waiting for the big reveal.
But as of Tuesday morning, the Supreme Court had no record of any filing from the state attorneys general or Lindell.
And reached for comment by The Daily Beast about his non-existent Supreme Court filing and why it hasn’t been made public, the pillow mogul fumed.
“Are you out of your mind?" Lindell shouted. “You call me again, I am suing you!”
Now Lindell will have to toil in earnest to respond to Dominion's Voting Systems $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit, which he has mostly ignored thus far. I’m assuming he drank his own kool aid and assumed a defense wouldn’t be necessary with the Former Guy ensconced at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Of course, if he loses the case by default, Lindell will inevitably become an even bigger hero in Trumpian circles. Maybe they’ll even promise him a job in the 2024 cabinet.
Hey folks! There’s a change coming to Words & Deeds in 2022. I’ll be moving from WordPress to Substack, which hopefully will mean just a few changes in formatting. Stay tuned for exciting details.
