San Diego Resistance Calendar - July 3-12, 2025

I have decided to post the weekly calendar of resistance events as a standalone feature. When possible, I’ll also post a regular column on Thursdays… It’s summer and I intend to enjoy life as much as I can AND support the movement against authoritarianism with my words.

In keeping with the fact that this IS a holiday weekend, I’m taking the Fourth of July off from writing. I’ll be back on Monday with news and analysis.

7/4 - Weekly Darrell Issa Office Rallies! 10:30am-Noon Darrell Issa’s Escondido Office 221 W Crest St Escondido. Indivisible North County San Diego We’ll meet first at the office and then walk as a group to the public sidewalk on Lincoln Blvd. Bring your protest signs and a folding chair if you can’t stand for an hour or so. Consider a double-sided sign so that you can have one message for Issa and another for the motorists.

7/4 - Rally/Protest: US Military Stand Down! Stop All Wars Foreign and Domestic! 1pm Memorial Community Park 2975 Ocean View Boulevard San Diego. While Trump deploys troops in California, the ruling class is simultaneously escalating with Iran, threatening another senseless war that will result in the deaths of millions. 7/4 - Strength in Community Picnic 3-9pm Bird Park, North Park 2705 Upas Street San Diego. Invite your friends, family, and neighbors. Wear your protest shirts or bring signs. Bring a picnic and enjoy Bird Park (In North Park) as a community. They want us scared, divided, and alone. They don’t want us to dream about freedom or community. Please no noisemakers (megaphones, cow bells, whistles, etc.). We will use our signs, waves & smiles to encourage motorists to "Honk for Democracy". RSVP

Bring your signs in support of Social Security, and make sure to bring a hat, and your own water. We’ll be on the sidewalk in a relatively sunny location, so a hat will make a big difference. RSVP

California's public employee pension funds, CalSTRS and CalPERS, reported substantially more than $2 billion in holdings of Tesla stock combined as of their most recent reports. Tesla’s financial instability, erratic leadership, and political volatility make continued investment increasingly risky. ATTEND

7/9 - Resist Trump Flash Banner Action, 7:30-8:30am Pomerado/Miramar Rd overpass at the I- @ 15, San Diego. With all the negative actions that the Trump administration has been taking on climate and environmental policy, we must continue to push-back against Trump and broadcast our concern to the public. So the Raise the Alarm Team is hosting a number of Flash Banner Actions (AKA Banner Drops!!) across major arteries in North County, Central SD, and South Bay. We start in North County–won’t you join us?

7/9 - 2025 Regional Transportation Plan: Central San Diego Learning Session 5:30-7pm Boulevard Hall @ 4265 El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego. Public transportation is a critical lifeline for so many to get to work, school, healthcare, recreation, and homes. We need your help to tell the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) that we want to see an enhanced transit system that is safe, reliable, and accessible.
