Radiation: The Gift That Keeps on Giving for Cancer Patients
This was the week I was supposed to be eating real food.
It was not meant to happen. Over the past weekend I experienced waves of pain.
A visit with the surgeon followed by an excruciating bit of scoping produced images indicated a serious problem had developed. It was, I’m told, one of those things that just happen with patients whose tissue has sustained radiation damage.
To be fair, the docs did warn me this could happen.
So later today (Thursday) I’m headed back to the operating table for re-do number three of the reconstructive surgery that followed cancer surgery late last year.
I expect to be back in the saddle early next week. Hopefully I’ll heal over the coming weeks. Maybe by November I’ll have a working esophagus and phase back into non-formula based sustenance.
Comments will be turned off at least until I can get back into the moderation mode.
See you on the other side...
