Are you concerned about the Hotel del Coronado hosting the Awaken Church/Cult this month?

Jurgen Matthesius, founder and lead “pastor” of Awaken, streams hate speech on social media filled with racist dog whistles, antisemitism, and homophobia.
He spreads toxic conspiracy theories and supports the torture and public execution of those he dislikes.
He calls Coronado residents who oppose him “demoniacs” and threatens to drive us out of town.
He vows to surround us and order us to come out with our hands up and surrender.
And now the Awaken Church/Cult is planning an event at the Hotel del Coronado this month as a prelude to establishing a permanent foothold in our community.
Enemies and Trashbags
Calls and emails from Coronado residents are pouring into the hotel asking that they cancel this event, prompting Awaken to urge members at all of its campuses to inundate the hotel with counter messages.

Note how women refers to opponents as the ENEMY.) is one San Diego Awaken “pastor” making the pitch to her flock, calling Coronado residents opposing Awaken “the enemy” and hoping to deliver their messages in a large trash bag… (well, at least the trash bag idea seems appropriate).
Awaken is directly connected to Christian Nationalism, which is not a religion. It’s a radical political movement devoted to taking over communities, controlling schools, libraries, and local governments while spreading nationalist propaganda.

As noted in a previous blog post, I believe a majority of Coronado residents don't want a group of fanatics seeking to take over our community. We don’t want to sacrifice our kids’ education, our town’s reputation, or our community civility on the altar of phony, trumped-up culture wars, hate speech, intolerance, and power grabs by an ideologue with serious delusions of grandeur.

The Hilton, which manages the Hotel del Coronado, also can be contacted through their hotline. It takes a few clicks, but it’s well worth it to get your point across.
Let them know you love Coronado and greatly appreciate the hotel. This will be a public relations disaster for them and do damage to our community. I can’t imagine they really want to be associated with a group such as this. Please be firm but kind, considerate, and respectful.

Hotel Del isn't listed under the Hilton Hotline but I submitted a complaint anyway. They'll know what it's about.
