Seditious September: The Loons Are Ready to Dial It Up a Notch
A convergence of crises and conspiracies is taking shape as the summer of 2021 comes to a close.
The same people who brought you the January 6th riot are organizing events they hope will feed off the disruptions based on fantastical notions occurring throughout the country.
Federal officials are preparing for a Sept.18th rally at the Capitol demanding "justice" for January 6th arrestees being promoted on the social media networks of far right groups.
The Associated Press reports that the U.S. Capitol Police have been discussing in recent weeks whether the large perimeter fence that was erected outside the Capitol after January’s riot will need to be put back up, along with another plan that does not involve a fence.
The Metropolitan DC Police will be “fully activated” on Sept. 17 and 18, meaning all officers must work those days, a routine request ahead of anticipated large gatherings.
From the Washington Post:
Look Ahead America, a nonprofit group founded and led by Matt Braynard, a former Trump campaign operative, is planning a “Justice for J6” rally on Sept. 18 to bring its message to Washington. Braynard’s followers believe many of the more than 570 people who have been charged with federal crimes in the attack were nonviolent and “reasonably believed they had permission” to enter the Capitol, according to a Jan. 29 letter Braynard sent to the Department of Justice and FBI. Braynard’s letter demands prosecutors drop all charges.
MSNBC's Ali Velshi interviewed Frank Figliuzzi, the former assistant director for counterintelligence at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
"One of the concerns I have is will the security be so tight that there will be soft targets perceived around the rest of the country, where some violence could play out. That's why DHS, last Friday, reportedly briefed — telephonically briefed — law enforcement executives across the country regarding what they're seeing and the need to be vigilant, particularly in the lead-up to September 18th," Figliuzzi explained.
From the Daily Beast:
The latest iteration of a “Worldwide Freedom Rally” is also scheduled for Sept. 18. The events, which are organized every few months in far-right and anti-vaccine groups, attempt to martial supporters in individual cities across the world. Some, like a March event in North Carolina and a July event in Florida, have attracted their own Proud Boy presence. A Proud Boy who previously attempted to start a breakaway Proud Boy sect in Indiana promoted the Sept. 18 “Freedom Rally” instead of Braynard’s event that same day.

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson has finally crossed the line from “just asking questions” about COVID, masks, vaccines, etc., by calling for unvaccinated people to get fake vaccine cards to avoid mandates.
He also said that efforts to control the spread of COVID-19, which has killed hundreds of thousands of Americans and rendered hundreds of thousands more seriously ill, are “serious” crimes committed by “tyrants” who Tucker said he hopes will be “punished for it.”
If this rhetoric sounds vaguely familiar, then you might have watched video of the testimony before the County Board of Supervisors prior to their consideration of a resolution declaring pandemic misinformation to be a public health crisis.
I really hate to say this, but some County elected officials ought to consider getting some extra security. The way threats are ramping up it’s only a matter of time before some individual decides they’re going to “save the world” via acts of violence.

Revolting on the right… Republican officials around the country report people who had never before shown interest in party politics volunteering, and crowding into county conventions, eager to enlist as precinct officers.
At the root of this wave of enthusiasm in an off year is former Trump advisor and far-right nationalist Steve Bannon’s conclusion that the former president lost the last election because the Republican Party sold him out. Now he and his followers are making an effort to purge or outnumber party officials deemed to be insufficiently loyal.
"This is your call to action," said Bannon on his podcast, which gets millions of listeners, in February, a few weeks after Trump had pardoned him of federal fraud charges.
Here are the details of what is happening, as explained in solid detail by ProPublica:
Far-right radical Republicans are signing up in droves to be local precinct officers and election inspectors, demanding that elections to be "reformed" based on already-disproven election hoaxes peddled by Trump and Trump's allies.
The movement is explicitly conspiracy-based. It explicitly relies on false conspiracy theories and hoax claims as justification for altering how the nation's elections are run. It is heavily associated with the "QAnon" movement, an ever-spiraling set of hoaxes claiming Democrats are behind everything from child sex trafficking rings to Jewish "space lasers."
The movement explicitly believes that the last election was invalid and should be overturned—or, barring that, that extreme action must be taken in order to assure Republicans win future elections.
The movement explicitly aims to purge party members who do not agree to promote the known-false election hoaxes the movement continues to spread. Those efforts are roundly successful; those purges are indeed taking place.
The movement is not shy in suggesting that violence may be necessary if their demands are not met or if their perceived enemies win future elections.

These folks are really going off the deep end.

As I said the other day, Don’t Texa-fy California. Seeing Newsom beat back the GOP slimy recall attempt by double digits WOULD be sending a message.

There is no such thing as a reasonable racist. It’s been 66 years since the brutal murder of Emmett Till and the bastards continue to rub salt in the wounds.
