VIDEO: Guess Who’s Making Big Bucks Off the COVID-19 Pandemic?

I’m adding a new Monday feature for Words & Deeds, namely the weekly Indivisible videos highlighting how certain people, interest groups, and public officials are attempting to cash in on the COVID-19 pandemic. 

In the first episode, Indivisible’s Policy Manager for Health Care, Eli Gerber discusses how Big Pharma has tried to cash in on the Coronavirus pandemic. 

Here’s why this series is important:

• The COVID-19 outbreak is a dual crisis: it's a public health challenge the likes of which we haven't seen in a century, accompanied by an economic collapse of historic proportions. But what we’re seeing today isn’t just about the pandemic — it’s the consequences of decades of work by Republicans and their corporate allies to concentrate as much wealth and power at the top as possible. 

• As we recover from this crisis, we have the chance to build a brighter future for everyone. But instead, those same bad actors are trying to take advantage of a global pandemic and twist it to their own benefit. 

• Through this series, we hope to spotlight some of these egregious acts so that the perpetrators are held accountable, and to show people how they can make a difference by urging their members of Congress to do what must be done to protect our democracy, our health, and our communities.
