Happy Roevember! Vote Like You Mean It
One more week until Election Day. Let’s do this, America. – Pres. Biden
I don’t usually do “listicle” type postings, but all these little thoughts kept ending up on my workspace. So I’m sharing notes, thoughts, and helpful info. Enjoy!
There are no reports of trick or treating kids being given fentanyl or marijuana gummies or apples with razor blades inside.
The Rochester, New York Star Tribune shocked the media world with an accurate headline: “Right-wing figures rush to spread Pelosi lies.”
Contrary to the misinformation being spread by Carl DeMaio and other nihilists, the San Diego County Registrar of Voters updates voter registration lists daily, weekly, and monthly.
A Twitter account found to be the source for the former president Barack Obama being a “lizard person who is a member of the Illuminati” viral message was one of the more successful efforts by the Chinese government to create controversy.
Voters can now take advantage of early voting at 39 vote centers in San Diego. The centers are around the county and open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
As of Saturday, Nov. 5, another 179 locations will open for a total of 218 vote centers open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Election Day, Nov. 8, will feature extended voting hours: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Republican-affiliated groups have sponsored radio ad campaigns, to the tune of $6.5 million, talking about “anti-white bigotry” and transgender care for children. The man behind this is former Trump aide Stephen Miller, best described as a “Hatemonger.”
There are also mailings from the same group showing up in San Diego mailboxes.
The “Freedom Revival,” a right wing rally at the County Building last weekend was projected to attract 20,000 people. Actual attendance was several hundred people.
Turning Point, USA founder Charlie Kirk used his podcast this week to call for donors to come up with bail for the Paul Pelosi attacker.
Although the Pelosi attacker is being held without set bail, he would apparently be deported back to Canada, since crack right wing researchers have discovered that he’s an ILLEGAL alien and it’s Joe Biden’s fault. (He overstayed his visa long before the last election)
Youth turnout in the 2022 midterm elections is on track to match – or potentially exceed – 2018’s historic level of participation, according to the Harvard Institute of Politics.

If you prefer a more mainstream approach to your voting research, let me suggest the San Diego Union-Tribune 2022 General Election Guide
The Times of San Diego 2022 Voter Guide is a short and sweet version of the many contests you’ll see on the ballot..

San Diego City’s Clerk’s Office also has a hub, mostly hyper local. There is info there on campaign financing if you’re willing to spend the time downloading all the PDFs, sorting them, and remembering that some campaigns are just terrible about getting their info right and file amendments that make it easy to miscount donor dollars.
Our former Assembly member Shirley Weber has revamped the California Secretary of State’s election info online into something that’s actually useful. Voter info, ballot tracking, finances, and just about anything else you’ll want to know can be found here.
Look! I even picked on from MSNBC! A good argument for regular mental health exams for pundits:
Ok, let me be Fair and Balanced…. Fox News Tucker Carlson’s spin on negative reactions to the attack on Paul Pelosi was to say there is no such thing as Hate Speech.
