Someone I’m close to works as a bartender in San Diego’s hospitality community. I asked and was told that news of the raid and the treatment of restaurant staff by ICE agents has upset people just trying to make a living, like the rest of us. When Covid hit they were the first to lose their jobs. Now the threat of workplace raids is a new source of stress on an already vulnerable community. It’s up to the rest of us to support our friends, family members and neighbors who serve us when we go out to eat and drink as we celebrate, relax or just have fun. Tip a little extra next time you’re out.

Please stop referring to these people as ICE. They are not ICE. They are not employed by the federal government. They are cos playing for a number of reasons and bounty hunting is one. These are rogue illegal people. Several have been arrested already. Do not back down, do not be afraid. Call local law enforcement.

The fact is they had a warrant meaning they had some sort of official blessing. Yes, there have been incidents, particularly in Texas, of impersonators.

Since these guys say they're ICE, it might be best to focus on the harm they are doing, both to immigrants (legal or not) and the last vestiges of democracy. Get in their face, yes!~ Waste your time dropping a dime? Naw.

There are definitely sweeps going on nationwide by people with badges and guns, being directed by the Trump administration. It's all part of making us afraid on behalf of the billionaires who seek to directly rule this country; they've had enough of this democracy shit.

Right because faking some sort of warrant isn't possible. You can clearly see they are not ICE by their movements and inconsistent dress, odd firearms and lack of surness and the van they came in as well. ICE is not deputizing anyone. Law states that if they refuse to prove identification to call local law enforcement. Several of these people have already been arrested

Please, I beg of you. Please stop with the conspiracy stuff about this raid. Your distractions serve no purpose in this instance. See my story published later today for more details.

The armed men from ICE were real. The existence of a warrant signed by U.S. Magistrate Judge Karen Crawford has been repeatedly confirmed. The politicians who had a press conference on Monday and the news media have all seen it, and the restaurant's lawyers have said they are in a possession of of a copy. ICE and Homeland Security officials have issued statements defending their pathetic behavior.

Illegal (non documented) is illegal, I have business that only hires documented individuals. It costs me more to comply but that is the law, it is not hard to abide by the law. Businesses that are hiring non documented are trying to skirt immigration law and not pay the employment taxes to get a less expensive employee.

I don't recall saying anything about the immigration status of those carted off. That should be up to a judge to determine, provided we're still living under the rule of law.

The issue here that you're so conveniently avoiding is the manner in which the raid occurred. The words 'killing mosquitos with a shotgun' come to mind. The point of the 'raid' was performative nonsense. Whether or not anybody was arrested is almost irrelevant. We really don't need these federal agents going all rambo on the community.
